Do you like wild romantic sceneries? Then the Tretschbachtal, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Siebengebirge Nature Park, is definitely the right trail for you.
It takes you from the loop hiking trail around Mount Lohrberg to the city of Bad Honnef-Rommersdorf or the other way around.
A piece of paradise close by
From the Löwenburg-meadow below the Waldhotel Löwenburger Hof, a wide path leads off in the direction of Bad Honnef. Just follow the signs “Tretschbachtal”. There are a few more bends, past the signposts “Breiberge” and “Annatal”. Then a footpath leads off to the right into the Tretschbachtal in the Siebengebirge.
You need sturdy shoes, though, though, becaue his footpath is narrow, not a wide hiking trail suitable for strollers. The mountain bikers, however, get along really well.
Right at the beginning of the valley there is a wooden bench where you can take a breather and listen to the birds. This is one of my favorite places in the Siebengebirge, a piece of paradise. Yet, it is only about half an hour’s walk to the next inn, the bus stop or the car park at Margarethenhöhe.
Over wooden bridges and plank roads
Along the small Tretschbach stream, you first cross three wooden bridges and go downhill. At the top we have the beech forests with woodrush, woodruff and many other plants and animals.
Further down it gets more humid due to the many seepage springs, here we cross the plank paths. Here we have alluvial forest with alders, ashes, ferns and many other plants and animals in the air, on the ground and in the Tretschbach. And there are the horsetails, one of the oldest plants on earth.
